PRACTICAL INFO
Getting to Tromsø
BY AIR
Tromsø has an international airport with good public transport links to the city and nearby neighbourhoods. From Copenhagen, check departures directly with the airlines SAS or Norwegian since there are several each day. From the UK and elsewhere, it's best to check options with Skyscanner or a similar service. If you have to transfer in Oslo, there might be more departures between Oslo and Tromsø available if you check directly with the airlines.
BY TRAIN
The arctic sleeper train from Stockholm to Narvik is a wonderful way to travel to northern Norway if you have the time! Check out vy.se for the timetable and tickets. Once you're in Narvik, you can catch the no. 100 bus to Tromsø (3 hrs) or pick up a rental car and explore Stetinden, Lofoten, or Senja on the way to the wedding. The train tickets sell out in summer and on weekends, so we recommend booking as soon as they're available.
BY BOAT OR CAR
Check out: Hurtigruten or plan a road trip if you have time :)
How much alcohol can I bring into Norway?
There's an app for that: https://www.toll.no/en/services/norwegian-customs-app
Accommodation
The wedding venue does not have normal rooms, so we recommend booking a hotel or Airbnb in Tromsø or the surrounding area.
It is also possible to camp. There are lots of good campervan spots on Kvaløya, and wild camping is allowed in Norway.
For Saturday night after the party there are about 24 sleeping spots on reindeer skins around the fire in lavvus (Terra and Torsk) at Tromsø Villmarkssenter. You'll need your own sleeping bag :-) Get in touch with us if you'd like to stay here -- we will stay the night too and enjoy a cup of coffee with you in the morning.
What's the weather going to be like?
It's the Arctic so you never know. Best ask the "grumpy Norwegians": www.yr.no
About Tromsø Villmarksenter
Tromsø Villmarkssenter is the husky farm where Sofie worked when we first moved here and our reception will be in their beautiful Binna building - and around the farm if weather allows.
It's about a 30 min drive from the church and we are arranging a shuttle, or you can go by car. There is no public transport back from the venue at night, please coordinate transport with Tromsø Taxi - or check out the option to stay overnight in traditional lavvus.
Before the reception, there will be a chance to meet the huskies! It might be worth bringing a big jacket to throw over your party attire. You can always come back for the husky cafe Sunday morning (10:00 - 16:00) Everyone knows puppy kisses cure hangovers!
Tromsø Taxi
Call +47 776 03 000 or book through the Taxifix app.
Public transport
For timetables and tickets for Tromsø busses you need to download the Svipper app.
Buy a ticket on the app and get on the bus - you can't buy tickets from the driver and they don't need to see your ticket :) google maps timetables are surprisingly reliable.
